Who Can Contribute?
According to the Municipal elections act, we can only accept contributions from the following:- An individual who is normally resident in Ontario.
- A corporation that carries on business in Ontario.
- A trade union that holds bargaining rights for employees in Ontario.
What are the contribution limits?
- Any contribution over $25 must be made by cheque.
- A contributor cannot donate more than $750.
Is there a financial incentive to donating?
Yes. If an individual donates $50 or more, they are eligible for a rebate from the City of Ottawa. Corporations and trade unions are not eligible for these rebates.- Donations of $50-$150 receive a rebate of 75%.
- Donations of $150-300 receive 75% of the first $150, then 50% back on the rest.
